The jury consists of pyro professionals, artists, celebrities and other persons of prominence. The criteria for their evaluation are overall impression, originality and harmony of music and illumination.

The audience wil also select their favorite competitor.

At the end of the second evening the winners will be announced and honoured.

Criteria of the Jury

Three Part Performance
Each participant will have to present 15 minutes of fireworks, divided into three different parts:

• Part 1: 2-3 minutes fireworks without music. Theme: “Blue and Gold”.
• Part 2: approx. 3 minutes fireworks to the music of “Maybe I – Maybe You” from the rock band “The Scorpions”.
• Part 3: 10 minutes fireworks synchronous to music (choice of the participant). Theme: “My Homecountry”.

Significance of the Parts
Each part of the participant’s fireworks will be rated according to the criteria of evaluation stated below. The jury will give points that will be counted according to the significance of the 3 parts.

• Part 1: 20% of the points of the total evaluation
• Part 2: 30% of the points of the total evaluation
• Part 3: 50% of the points of the total evaluation

Selecting the Winner
Each part of the presentation of each participant will be judged by every member of the jury by giving points according to the criteria of evaluation. For that every jury member will fill out forms provided by the Pyronale team.
The points for each part will be multiplied by the percentage defining the significance of the particular part of the presentation and will then be added to the total points that a participant has received from the jury.
The winner is the participant who receives the most points. Place number 2 and 3 will go to the participants with the next highest scores.

Criteria for Evaluation

Technical Evaluation
Quality of the pyrotechnical material used in the performance.

• Selection and quality of the various pyrotechnical effects judged by an overall impression of shape and color.
• Selection, type, shape, originality and quality of the material.
• Selection, type, exclusivity and color luminosity of the material.

Evaluation of Artistic Craftsmanship
Set-up and spatial arrangement of fireworks effects.

• Spatial positioning as well as horizontal and vertical width of the complete arrangement in relation to the work space provided on the ground.

Artistic Emotional Evaluation
Overall artistic impression of the performance.

• Rhythm and tempos of the fireworks and the incorporation of different fireworks effects.
• Quality and originality of the artistic design using the various materials for shape and color.

Artistic Creativity Evaluation
Emotional congruence and synchronicity of music and the various fireworks elements and “pictures”.

Artistic Evaluation of Music Choice
Choice and mix of chosen music.

Point System for the Evaluation

• Mark A (“very good”) = 5 points
• Mark B (“good”) = 4 points
• Mark C (“medium good”) = 3 points
• Mark D (“still satisfactory”) = 2 points
• Mark E (“not good enough”) = 1 point

Exclusion and disqualification

If a participant uses shells only to generate a loud sound (salute shell), if he uses less than 5 ground effects or if the 3 parts of his performance are off the time limits (+/- 10%), the participant will be disqualified.
